A mobile, on-device Dragon Anywhere alternative for diagnostic reports

Doctilio is a mobile medical dictation app that turns your spoken findings into a specialty-structured report. If you used Dragon Anywhere to dictate on your phone and can no longer renew it, Doctilio is a like-for-like place to dictate, with one difference that matters: instead of a block of generic transcribed text, you get a structured radiology, cardiology, pathology, or nuclear medicine report, formatted in seconds, ready to review, sign, and export as PDF or Word. Speech-to-text runs on-device, you dictate every word including the punctuation, and the app applies your specialty's structure and composes nothing.

What happened to Dragon Anywhere

If you are on this page, you probably already know. As of July 1, 2026, Nuance stopped selling and renewing Dragon Anywhere. The notice on its App Store listing reads, verbatim:

As of July 1, 2026, Dragon Anywhere Mobile is no longer available for sale. Purchasing new subscriptions and renewing existing subscriptions is no longer possible.

Dragon Anywhere App Store listing, verified August 2026

The listing is still visible, so it has not been delisted, but it can no longer be bought or renewed. Dragon Anywhere was a generic mobile dictation tool: speech to text, at $14.99 per month (historical price; as of July 2026 no new subscriptions or renewals are possible). It gave you transcribed text. It did not structure a diagnostic report.

That is the gap Doctilio fills, and it is aimed first at the reads that arrive with no software attached: the per-click teleradiology list, the legal and personal-injury case read at the kitchen table, the overflow contract, the moonlighting shift at a site whose PCs you cannot install anything on, and the independent cardiologist's evening stack of echo, stress, and Holter reports.

Facts are date-stamped where they appear and re-verified before each content flight. Dragon Anywhere's $14.99 keeps a July 2026 stamp because it is a historical price tied to the July 1, 2026 end of sale; the Dragon Medical One figures were re-verified in August 2026. Dollar figures are US App Store and US reseller prices, shown for US readers; see the note on prices outside the US below. There is no Android app yet; join the waitlist from the contact page to be notified if that changes.

On the honest difference. We will not pretend Doctilio's regular price matches what Dragon Anywhere charged. It does not, and we will not dress it up. Doctilio's regular price is $19.99 per month, five dollars more than Dragon Anywhere's $14.99 (as of July 2026). That is not price parity. What the extra buys is a different thing: a specialty-structured report you dictate and sign, not a generic block of transcribed text you have to reformat afterward. Right now, though, the comparison costs you nothing: Doctilio is in a free period, no card required, and when pricing returns we will announce it at least two weeks ahead.

If you are also comparing the enterprise options: Dragon Medical One is $99 per user per month on a one-year term, plus a one-time $525 setup fee, roughly $1,713 in the first year (US reseller pricing, as of August 2026), and it is not sold self-serve. PowerScribe One and 360 are sold only to hospitals and organizations, quote-only, with no individual price you can buy at any number; PowerScribe 360 renewals and maintenance end August 31, 2026. Any specific PowerScribe dollar figure you see quoted online is a third-party estimate, not an official Nuance or Microsoft price.

Outside the US: the dollar figures above are US prices. Doctilio's free period is not US-only, it applies wherever the app is available. For any competitor, check the current App Store price in your own store, and your local reseller for the enterprise products.

What you get with Doctilio

Not an ambient scribe, and it never records patients

Doctilio is a dictation tool, not an ambient scribe. It does not listen to, record, or transcribe patient conversations. There is no patient encounter being captured anywhere in the product, so there is nothing to consent to, retain, or subpoena from us. That is the whole point of dictation-first: the input is your own professional findings, in your own words.

For exactly how your speech and your report text are handled, our Privacy Policy has the full, plain-English detail. We would rather you read it than take a slogan from a marketing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dragon Anywhere being discontinued?

Yes. As of July 1, 2026, Nuance stopped selling Dragon Anywhere and stopped renewing existing subscriptions. The App Store listing states that purchasing new subscriptions and renewing existing ones is no longer possible. The app may still open if you have it, but it can no longer be renewed.

What is the best Dragon Anywhere alternative for doctors who write reports?

That depends on your reads, so try it rather than take our word. Doctilio is built for doctors who dictate diagnostic findings and want a structured report back, not just transcribed text: radiology, nuclear medicine, pathology, and cardiology. It runs on your iPhone, and it is free right now with no card required, so you can test it on your own list.

How is Doctilio different from Dragon Anywhere?

Dragon Anywhere gave you generic transcribed text that you then reformatted. Doctilio formats your dictated findings into a specialty-structured report (Findings and Impression, organ-system order) that is ready to review, sign, and export. Same idea of dictating on your phone, a different output.

Can I dictate radiology reports on my iPhone?

Yes. You speak your findings at the reading station or between cases, transcription runs on-device, and the report is formatted in seconds. No desktop workstation, no special microphone, and no PACS integration are required. Your voice never leaves your phone - report text syncs encrypted to our servers and a third-party AI provider.

Does Doctilio record patients or listen to my appointments?

No. Doctilio is not an ambient scribe. It never records patient conversations. You dictate your own findings; there is no patient encounter being captured.

Can Doctilio learn my drug names and referring physicians?

Yes. You can build a custom vocabulary of the terms you use, such as drug names, referring physicians, and abbreviations, and Doctilio recognizes them in your dictation. Your custom vocabulary is stored on your device and is never sent to us. Your voice never leaves your phone - report text syncs encrypted to our servers and a third-party AI provider.

How much does Doctilio cost?

Right now, nothing. Doctilio is in its free period: the full app, no card required, no trial clock. The regular price is $19.99 per month per doctor, billed through the App Store, with no per-minute caps and no hidden tiers, and when pricing returns we will announce it at least two weeks ahead.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. There is no contract at any point. Doctilio is free right now; when pricing returns, billing is monthly through the App Store and you can cancel anytime. There is no annual term, no reseller contract, and no setup fee, and every report exports as PDF or Word, or copies out as text, so your work is never locked in.

Comparing the enterprise systems too? See our PowerScribe alternative and Dragon Medical One alternative. If you read independently, there is a page for exactly that: the radiology dictation app for individual radiologists.
